Spave is a mobile application that can be used on Android version 5 and iOS version 13 or later.
The free Spave® app allows users to donate to charities, to link one checking account and to view your insights dashboard. To unlock premium features, there is a premium option account users can choose to upgrade to for a small monthly fee.
There are no subscription fees for the standard version of the Spave app. To unlock premium features and connect more accounts, there is a subscription fee. A premium subscription allows for up to four linked financial accounts (checking, credit card, investment, etc) and access to both giving and savings goals. The cost of a premium subscription is:
Spave® deducts micro-amounts (“Spavings”) from your primary checking account and distributes them to your savings and selected charity(ies). Whenever you make a purchase using your debit card, credit card or checking account(s) linked to the Spave app, a round-up, a fixed amount, or percent that you define is deducted from your checking and automatically distributed to your selected aving and Giving accounts.
For users enrolled with the standard version, their spavings will be based off the transactions of their checking account. For users enrolled with the premium version, spavings can be based off the transactions for their primary checking account or a different account they have linked (such as a credit card or investment account).
By linking your banking accounts, you’re creating a personal ecosystem that seamlessly balances your spending, your saving and your giving — empowering you to live the life you choose, save for the things you care about and help make the world a better place. Spave gives you control, choice, and convenience to impact your community on your terms.
You can start using the Spave app by signing up with an email and registering a username. After you sign up, you will need to use the same username to log back in. You will be able to merge your social media accounts in the future if you use the same email address in both apps.
Email and text messages may take a few minutes to reach you. If you still don’t receive a code after a few minutes, tap “resend code” and we will send you another code. If you are still not receiving a code, please send us an email at support@spave.io.
You will be able to reset your password by navigating to your profie. Click the avatar in the upper right hand corner and select “My Profile”. Next, click the pencil icon to edit your personal info. Next, scroll down until your date of birth and then you will see fields to create and confirm a new password.
Your linked accounts can be found under Wallet by tapping on My Linked Accounts. From there, you can add more accounts, or swipe left to de-link an account if you have subscribed to the premium version.
Our standard version includes linking one checking account. If you would like to link more than one account, you will be prompted to upgrade to our premium version. Premium subscriptions allow up to four accounts linked.

Subscriptions to Spave are managed through either the App Store or Google Play.
If you downloaded the app on your iPhone, navigate to your settings, click your name/apple ID, tap subscriptions, find your Spave subscription, and tap the cancel subscription button.
If you downloaded the app on your Android phone, navigate to the Google Play store. Tap on your profile icon then click on Payments and Subscriptions. Find your Spave subscription and click the cancel subscription button.
Spave will collect and maintain your giving amounts each week, and a transfer will be initiated every Monday to your charity. Transfers may take up to one week to complete.
Your donations are 100% tax-deductible.* Nonprofits pay nothing to be found or receive funds through Spave. 3.5% of your donation goes to our database platform partners. 6.5% goes to keeping the Spave platform secure. 90% goes to the organizations you support.
*Your Spave Giving dashboard will show your total giving and the amounts given to each cause you support. Every January you’ll receive a year-end giving statement and a receipt for tax purposes.

We have established an overdraft protection threshold so that if/when there is $25 or less in your checking account, we will send a notification to you that asks if you want us to initiate the Spavings transfer next week, or if you want to cancel the transfer and pause your Spavings until further notice. You can also limit the amount of Spavings that are deducted from your Checking account per transaction, per day and/or per week.
There is no maximum amount you can give or save. However, if we identify that there is a transaction scheduled for an amount greater than $500 (for either giving or saving), we will send a notification to you that will require you to either confirm or cancel the transaction.

In January, Spave emails each user a customized, comprehensive tax receipt that covers all of their charitable giving through the Spave app. This year-end tax email is your official tax receipt. One hundred percent (100%) of the donations you made through the Spave app is tax deductible .
That’s one of the many perks of using Spave — you don’t have to keep receipts for individual donations and/or individual charities/nonprofits you’ve contributed to. Spave automatically compiles all of that information into one simple tax report, which we email to each user in January.

We use 256-bit encryption and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to transmit data through our app and it is never stored on your mobile device. Strong data access control assures only authorized personnel have access to the data. We also ensure the same intense bank-level security standards, policies and protocols are adhered to among our accredited integration partners.
We have strong access controls in place which makes it possible to have access to resources only by authorized users. Separate access controls are enforced at each layer of infrastructure. Multi-factor authentication is required for access to third-party infrastructures. All application and user access logs are stored centrally and actively monitored.
Our services are deployed on a highly secured AWS platform architected with all security controls in place to avoid, rapidly address and proactively resolve identified issues.

Yes, Spave needs to obtain basic personal information, such as: name, address, date of birth and the last four digits of your social security number. This information is required to perform a Customer Identification Program, also known broadly as “KYC,” or “Know Your Customer.” The purpose of performing this due diligence is to verify the identity of individuals wishing to conduct a financial transaction, while also giving a reasonable understanding of the type of activity in which each customer will engage. This verification is done by our integration partner, Dwolla. Spave® is committed to maintaining the security, confidentiality and integrity of all personal information about our users. We do not sell or share your personal information to anyone, for any reason. All communication data between Spave® app and our servers, as well as integration to our strategic partners, use bank-level encryption protocols.
